A Salmon Salad does not have to be overly complicated to be yummy. The Salmon especially if smoked does the talking for itself upon your taste buds. There is actually two ways about it, the Meditterranean way and the Asian way. Both do deliver on flavours. I will say both depend upon your mood during the day.

For both recipes I will recommend a few minutes of marinnating the Salmon in Citrus juice, either Lime or Lemon.

Ingredients

.Smoked Salmon

. Salad Leaves (Radicchio, Rocket, Frisée for the Med Theme) ( Red Chicory, White Chicory, shredded Iceberg lettuce and Micro Herbs for the Asian Theme)

. Sundried Tomatoes, Fresh Tomatoes and pickled sliced Radishes for the Med Salad along with some Capers.

. Bamboo Shoots, Shitake Mushrooms and pickled sliced Daikon for the Asian style Salad along with some Nori Leaves shredded.

. A little dressing either made with Lemon or Lime. With added crushed Black Peppercorn or Sezchuan Pepper.

. As a Garnish, chopped Basil and Chervil for the Med Salad, but for the Asian one, sliced Spring Onions, chopped Coriander and the optional chopped Chilli.

 

Steps

The Step by Step is fairly easy.

First the Salmon is to be cared for. A little Marination impart it with some 'Zing'. May it be with Lime Juice or Lemon Juice, but it does give the Fish the plus factor flavour wise.

Second the Salad is mainly an assembly job. What is most essential is to choose the Salad Leaves. This is up to your own taste but I would recommend a balance with a crunchy bitter leaf, a tender one, and a peppery one.

As the Salmon strips are the star of the show, the other ingredients are the props as per say. 

For the Med Style Salad, upon the Leaves go the Tomatoes, Sundried and Fresh ones. Place the pickled Radishes and then arrange the Salmon strips in a decorative fashion. Top with Capers. An addition to be considered could be some Green Olives. A plus would be Lemon Zest. To finish everything a nice drizzle of Balsamic Dressing will make that Salmon Salad sing. 

For the Asian Style Salad, upon the Salad Leaves go the Shitake Mushrooms and Bamboo Shoots. Decorate the Salad with the pickled Daikon slices. Add the Smoked Salmon Strips along with the Nori Leaf shreds. The Zest of a Lime goes with a Soy sauce dressing to finish of the Salad.
