A Selection of Medium Tomatoes

Medium sized Tomatoes are what we do get the most from the Supermarkets, Shops and even Markets and Gardens. A Tomato I do enjoy growing is 'Gardener's Delight'. This variety is usually easy to grow but also does give a bountiful harvest. It is, dare I say, a common variety which rarely fails you.

A matter of fact is Tomatoes just like Carrots and other Vegetables are victim of standerisation. It sounds a bit like that: Tomato must be round and red, Carrot must be orange and straight... etc, etc, etc. So as consumers we do tend to go with the flow with what is restrictively on offer on the shelves. For Tomatoes, it is a medium sized and red one which is the standard available to us.

We are used to it for lack of choice or also the lack of looking for other choices (complacency). Now a medium size Tomato is perfect for many dishes. If a Cherry Tomato is absolutly nice  for Parties, and Summer Feasts, if a Beef Tomato is a must have to stuff, the medium Tomato is more of a very versatile case.

Personally I use medium sized Tomatoes for Sauces, Salsas, and Ragu mainly.
