Runner Beans.

Usually flat and green the Runner Bean is being used almost world wide. Its pod is long however its beans are colourful and rather on the large side. Some due to their deep red colour are called Scarlet.

Runner Beans are rarely used as a main meal but they could be part of a Main Meal as an ingredient. For example it can compliment a Pasta Dish or a Risotto very well. 

Runner Beans make a very nice Side just as well. Jazzed up with Garlic, seasoned, with the added Zest of a Lemon, it can enhance a Fish dish very well. You can Sautéed them in Chive Butter and finish them with chopped Parsley and Mint.

If it can be enjoyed as a very good side the Runner Bean can also be part of a very generous Salad. Blanched with Peas, with fried chopped Shallots,  minced Garlic, and Lardons, it will make a very substantial Salad. For texture you could add, Hazelnuts or Walnuts.

The Runner Bean is often found in Supermarkets cut sideways in a diagonal. If it does look pretty on a plate, the Runner Bean does miss a bit of its consistancy in the process. However not everyone has the luxury of time.
