Razor Clams.

The produce of the Sea and Oceans are numerous with a great variety. Clam is a group of Shellfish which doesn't escape that rule. In fact Clam is a generic name for those bivalves sea Molluscs. Their common feature is that they have two shells which of a similar aspect open and close. They feed themselves by filtering sea water.

The structure of Clams and Cockles. This above is a Cockle. Clams have smooth shell while a Cockle will have grooves upon its shell.

Clams contrary to Mussels and Oysters, do not need to attach themselves somewhere in order to survive. They do burry themselves within sand or mud. They can reappear when the sea cover again their area and may move to another place.

Clams and Cockles have been part of our food heritage. If you go in Venice, stop in a Restaurant and check the Menu, you are more than likely to find Spaghetti Alla Vongole, which simply means Spaghetti with Clams. But I must say that the 'Vongole' word for Clams make them sing like the wind and feathers of an Angel taking off somewhere high above you.
