My Munstead English Lavender.

Lavender isn't a very difficult plant to grow but beneficiate of immediate or almost immediate reward, I will advocate to get a pot with a Lavender which has grown to about 20 to 30 cm high. Then depending on your Garden or Patio, you can either plant the Lavender in the ground or either put it in a larger pot.

Lavender don't like too much moisture because it can rot its roots. So if you plant it directly in the ground ensure that it is a soil which more dry than wet. Then the Plant will have a chance to thrive. Similarly if you choose to repot the Lavender into a Larger Container, make that it has holes in it to provide adequate drainage. The advantage of keeping Lavender in a container is that you then can position or reposition the Plant to find its perfect position. Because Lavender thrives better in a sunny spot.

Lavender is a good plant for beginners at gardening because after having found its perfect spot, sunny and well drained, Lavender have a low maintenance. It is a matter of watering it once a week until the Lavender is well established. The tendancy of Lavender is to grow very high up to 1 metre 50cm. If you want to keep its Bush like form it is necessary to cut it a little once in a while. Lavender can be shaped easily that way.

If Lavender is an evergreen Plant it does Flower from Spring until the end of Summer. During Summer evenings, having the scent of Lavender in one's Garden is heavenly.

However you can retain that smell by drying the Lavender flowers into little Bunches to decorate the house with and give some area the fragrance of Lavander.

Last but not least dried Lavender flowers can also be used in the Kitchen for culinary purposes which are mainly desserts.

Another point is that Lavender do attract Pollinators in the Garden which is a plus.
